Dental Services are an Important Part of Preventive Care for Pets
Just like people, dogs and cats should have their teeth and gums examined and cleaned on a regular basis. Without this type of care, most pets will, unfortunately, suffer from some degree of periodontal disease by the time they reach just three years of age. At Lone Tree Veterinary Hospital, we offer pet dental care for companion animals in Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood, and our vets would be thrilled to be entrusted with caring for your pet’s pearly whites.
Preventive Dental Care for Pets
When you bring your dog or cat for dental services, we will provide upfront pricing so you don’t have to worry about any unpleasant surprises when the comes time to pay the bill. During your pet’s wellness exam, we typically glance inside their mouth to look for the earliest signs of periodontal disease, tooth decay, and other issues.
During a full dental service, however, we examine and clean your pet’s teeth while they are under anesthesia. This allows us to perform a comprehensive exam both above and below the gumline. The use of anesthesia also makes it possible to safely and effectively remove plaque and tartar from your pet’s teeth. In cases of serious periodontal disease, we may also extract teeth.
